Shannon
Ryanair has plans to reduce the Shannon base from 4 to 1 based plane, because there is an airport fee (tourist tax) of €10 per person. That fee made loss of money and passengers, according to Ryanair. Ryanair wants to reduce the costs at Shannon airport with more than 50%. Ryanair also wants to sign a new 5-year contract with Shannon airport, the last contract was signed in 2004 and is ending in April 2010. Although the passenger amount has grown since 2004 to 1,2 million passengers, Ryanair is losing money with the base.
It is not the first time Ryanair is reducing the Shannon base, last summer Ryanair reduced the based aircraft from 6 to 4, following now from 4 to 1. It is not known wich routes will be affected.

Re: Shannon
Shannon could lose more FR flights as charges are hiked by 33 % :
Ryanair announced that if these price increases are not reversed, then it will shortly announce further flight and traffic cuts at Shannon, which has become increasingly uncompetitive under the mismanagement of the Govt owned DAA monopoly.
