Bread Pre-Paid MasterCard Fees
My Bread Pre-Paid MasterCard was used for the first time today. I loaded it at a PayPoint for £250 and that cost me £7.50 (3%). Bread charged me a 2% transaction fee when I paid for my Ryanair tickets (£4.69) so the total was £12.19.
Not too bad, considering Ryanair would have charged me £30 if I used any other card.
Anyway, the PayPoint transaction cost me an additional fee but it's possible to top up free at any Post Office. Unfortunately, my local one was closed and I wanted to buy quickly in case prices went up.
Overall, not very convenient considering you cannot transfer balance from Bread back to a bank account. You have to know beforehand how much you're going to pay. And going to Post Office or PayPoint isn't very 21st century either. AFAIK you can't top up online or via bank transfer.
Visa Electron was a much more convenient option.
