David Gering at CRL
David Gering was Ryanair "Sales and marketing manager Benelux"
It's announced in the Belgian newspapers that he is about to become the new director of Brussels South Charleroi Airport.
David Gering is Dutch. His main task would be to progressively bring the number of passengers from 2,5 million in 2007 to 5 millions in a not too distant future - and if possible in attracting new airlines to CRL.
His post at Ryanair is up for grab :

Re: David Gering at CRL
An interview of David Gering in a Belgian newspaper this morning ("Le Soir" - in French)
David Gering, after 5 years with Ryanair, is now in charge of the expansion of aviation activities at Brussels South Charleroi Airport.
His job is to make CRL less dependant of Ryanair - for the moment, 90 % of the traffic is made up of RYR passengers !
Excerpts of DG answers :
"My job at RYR was on quite a hectic rythm ! Beginning at 0530 monday morning, first flight EIN-STN, meetings and brainstorming the whole day, etc ..."
"My job here is not - and shall not be - to put the brake on RYR"
"Before, I was filling up aircraft, to-day, I must fill up an airport !"
"I have been drilled at the RYR school, where one always has to think about the cost and to find how to save money and make things more straightforward."
Things that need to be done at CRL include :
- better road access
- a connection by train coming up to the terminal
- lenghtening of the runway, in order to get african and transatlantic opportunities (possibility of connecting european and american secondary airports).
In DG view, CRL must become the most accessible Belgian airport and the less expensive - and not only for the LCC.
(DG : David Gering - CRL : Charleroi - LCC : low cost carrier - RYR : !)
