Check-in fees rise

Ryanair, the world’s favourite airline, today (12th Nov) unveiled a plan to encourage even more passengers to snap up its cheapest promotional fares by raising its avoidable online check-in fee by €1 from €5 to €6 on all non-promotional fares booked after 1st Dec 2010.
Ryanair’s lowest promotional fares which are continually available online will continue to include online check-in free of charge as all passengers who book one of Ryanair’s promotional fares will continue to avoid this online check-in fee.

Well, that may be, but it remains that the check-in fee on non-promotional flights is raised by 20 % ...

A bit cynical this. Most people travel because they have to on any given date as their personal circumstances dictate, so it's pot luck whether your trip happens to fall on a promotional fare date.
Hardly anyone is that flexible they can rearrange their whole travel plans around ryanair's promotional fare schedule.
As I've said on here before the check in fee is NOT an avoidable charge as it is NOT avoidable on every flight everyday, such as the baggage or debit card fee.

More cynical about this is, that Ryanair had announced they would never introduce a fuel surcharge. But this is the same, only has another name. Lying *!

I agree Hottie, no fuel surcharge is just a clever marketing ploy. When their fares range from €1/£1 to anything over £150 they don't need to charge a surcharge, just bury it in the actual fare
