[solved]Ryanair safety??

Hello,

I think this is the best forum to ask these question.
I will fly with Ryanair from London-Stansted, UK to Salzburg, Austria on the 14th of July.

But is it a save airline. I have flown to Greece (two times) and to the United States but never with a budget airline as Ryanair.
I have read a lot of comments about Ryanair but some commentators have questioned Ryanair's attitude towards safety.

1. Thinks about the fuel loads, not more then one hour extra fly time!
2. You need to pay an extra 10 pounds if you would like to have a seat next to the emergency exit.
3. I have read about bad pilots from East Europe.
4. The crew (pilots and hostess), do not have enough time to rust.
5. I have watched the documentary Ryanair Caught Napping, about the safety of Ryanair.

There are a lot of comments (see above) about the safety of Ryanair.

My question, is Ryanair a safe airline? I know Ryanair has never had a fatal accident on one of its planes. However, some commentators have questioned Ryanair's attitude towards safety (see above).

Hi, The aircraft Ryanair use are made out of paper(but the paper is good quality and should be safe during wet seasons too.) using paper means less weight and lower fares. Remember the importance of No smoking during the flight as paper and flame do not marry well.
Ryanair do not carry surplus fuel just incase of a crash landing- no fuel so no explosion Safety is paramount.
Wd40 is often provided with the uniform so rusting should not be a problem.

No you don't have to bother. Ryanair and other budget airlines are subject to the same safety regulations as any other airline. Their safety record is until now good. (And they are flying quite some time now). There is an online database about airline crashes and so on. I don't know the url but in the past I've found it via the dutch website www.luchtvaartnieuws.nl.
Your points:
1. One hour spare time flying brings you in the reach of loads of suitable airports. I wouldn't worry.
2 You pay the 10 pounds/euro's for extra legroom, not for safety.
3. I don't know about bad pilots from East Europe. I think this is easy to state and hard to prove. personnaly I've had a lot of dutch pilots, if this reassures you.
4. On no airline in the world the crew has enough time to rust. About resting there are safety regulations equal for anybody.
5. Did you enjoy the advertisements around the broadcasting?
Do not expect anything about service (for this price!), but your safety will be OK.

If you sit nearer the red box or better known as the black box, some say you may have more chance of surviving a accident, usually the strongest part of the fuselage is in the middle over the wings, many seats here are free.

I thought Laurel and Hardy were dead too

Point 5 - unfair IMO.. ive had far worse service on airlines charging alot more for a ticket, crews on larger carriers sometimes find it hard to even smile these days.. maybe it is a general problem within the industry and the glamour once attached has gone, it also seems some passengers are ungrateful and require full time carers rather than general cabin crew- unfortunately some folk find the time to moan on flights shorter and cheaper than some bus rides, just another sad side to society i guess.


Back to the main thread Safety-Ryanair do not make up the rules they are regulated-

The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) is responsible for regulating most of the aviation sector in the UK, including airlines, airports and national air traffic services. The CAA works independently from government.
Ryanair is as safe as any respected airline flying today.
Tip -For safety onboard listen to the safety drill- a lot of pax do not or cannot be bothered.

seriously, it is far better dying in a FR accident for 10€ than in a, let's say alitalia, accident for 200€. and because the planes are made out of paper the only problem is, with head wind you are often flying backwards... thank you @ryanairflyer - you made my day!
