Air Berlin has tried to bar Ryanair from enjoying interesting base costs offered by Lübeck airport - to no avail :

Air Berlin is not in good shape at the moment,
- trimming its fleet by about 10 percent
- cutting long-haul services by one third
- returning 14 leased planes to owners
- and still not sure to be able to stay in the air for long
