According to the Financial Times
http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/84f01418-5cd7-11dd-8d38-000077b07658.html
a few exciting novelties, designed to cut costs, will soon appear at Ryanair.

Zero baggage flights.
In october, Ryanair will experiment with "zero baggage flights". On a trial basis, check-in bags will be banned on a few flights to test passenger responses.

Self-service check-in kiosks.
Self service check-in kiosks will be set at STN and DUB in order to further reduce airport and handling staff.
( It's not clear, as there is already the web-checking, if these kiosks will care for the passengers with hold baggage ).

In-flight mobile phones.
Soon, trials of a service allowing the inflight use of mobile phones and Blackberry's.

Says the FT : M. O'Leary is still the most likely candidate to be the last man flying when the crisis is over ... bounce
