New fees
The fees have been changed - those in pounds sterling have been adjusted to the current exchange rate - and the Priority Boarding Fee is now down to 2 euros !

Re: New fees
The "Priority Boarding" fee is now 2 euros/flight, down from 5 euros.
Lately, on the flights I have taken in Belgium, Italy, Spain, Ireland, there were really few "PB" passengers - from half a dozen to a dozen per flight at the most.
Two euros is a much more acceptable fee and I think it will induce many passengers to buy it - me, for one.

That's exactly my fear! For the last few months it was so easy to not buy PB and just get to the front of the "normal passengers" line to grab a good seat. I am also thinking of buying PB again from now on, 2 € being a good price.

Re: New fees
I was on the CRL-BGY yesterday morning, and there were at least as many "priority boarding" pax as non-priority ones - and perhaps more !
At 2 euros , it's cheap and, soon, nearly everybody will be on priority !
Note : as a matter of fact, there is a limit of 90 "priority boarding" passengers per flight :
When making a booking online all passengers included in a flight booking can purchase priority boarding for a discounted fee. ( up to a limit of 90 passengers per flight)

Re: New fees
The table of fees suggest that it costs £/€5 to check-in. But if you book, you get it for free. I am worried that eventually, they will charge £/€5 per person/per flight just to check-in. And everything has now gone up to nicely rounded numbers! But the booking system is still in the old charges.

The 5 euros fee is for all new bookings from 1st may. Thus, until 1st may, it's free.
Phase 2: From 1st May 2009 all new bookings will be required to use web check-in (...)
The web check-in fee of £5/€5 per person, per flight will apply to all new bookings (except promotional fares) from 1st May 2009.
On the other hand, the priority boarding fee has been raised from 2 to 3 euros.

Re: New fees
But they can't do that! As that is not an optional extra/charge. It has got to be included in the advertised price; otherwise it is violating all EU advertising airfare laws.

this is the point why they always say they have free/€5/€10/whatever seats...

Re: New fees
So, if the advert says "1 million seats at €10", then I won't pay the €5 per flight, per person charge? If I get my flight in that special offer?
Otherwise, it is €5 to check-in?
I still think that is breaching advertising laws, considering even if the price says (on the page where you choose flights)
Fare: £100
Taxes, fees, charges: £25
Total: £125
That is an example of a one-way ticket.
Now, they must include that under fees and charges. NOT in the baggage/priority page.
As realistically, this is not an extra.

Re: New fees
Let's wait and see how it will be put on the booking process after 1st may - but it remains that the 5 euros fee is not welcome !

I geuss we shall have to wait, but this €5 charge is not going to be welcomed by ANYONE. I think that it will be free if you don't take a bag.

Re: New fees
After close readings of many news sites, it does in fact look at to travel with "0 bags/Online check-in" will cost you £/€5 per person/perflight.
I think that is completely unjustified, and although I always choose FR - I do look for the best deal as well, and regretably this may now be with someone else.
£/€10 for a return flight per person is unfair.
I hope someone at Ryanair reads this!
As this is the fuel surcharge; just covered up...
It should be free if you don't take a bag!

Re: New fees
Well, I remember when I used to working in UK several years ago I was getting minimal payment - about £4,90 per hour. So £10 was not a lot for me that time. But imagine yourself, that in eastern countries for example my girlfriend is getting about 8PLN per hour which is more or less £1.60. In this case as she must pay for her studies, rent a room and we will have airport taxes (about £14), price of ticket and now this stupid fee, so it's very hard to fly anywhere in anytime. All we must to do is to wait for cheap options and we're counting every single pound.
Hope I'll get a good job after my studies, with good payment and supervisor giving a lot irregular days off to make a short flight

Re: New fees
I know exactly what you are saying - and I've been there.
But don't give up! I am sure Ryanair might just back down from this. I have a feeling that this was another "Spend a penny to spend a pound" stunt. Just it would go down as "€/£5 to check-in". But it backfired, and the media didn't jump on it and have a field day.
But we will just have to wait and see, I still think you can't charge for it unless it is in the first price you see, which is most cases is on the second page where you are selecting flights, or on the confirm flights page.
Like the Visa electron (for some reason, very difficult to get) it is an extra, as those with that card don't get charged. So legally, it can be avoided.
This can't be. And if they want to lower handling costs - they are going to wrong way about it; as it will cost me an extra £20 to take a bag - that is worth it. I already have to spend £10 - to £20 is not going to make that much difference.
Although, I myself; not only count the pounds - but count the pennys.
Best Regards,
niko4ryr
