Venice: new base !?
riferita all’ex presidente dell’Aertre, la società
opposizione. L’obiettivo della compagnia irlandese sarebbe
portare a Treviso 3 milioni di passeggeri.
L’aeroporto Canova diventerebbe così uno scalo nodale,
Critiche all’efficacia del Canova
arrivano tanti cinesi.

In short, Ryanair is thinking of opening a base at Treviso (TSF), with 4 to 6 aircraft, and new domestic and international lines.
The head of the province is not enthusiast, he says that the passengers that land at Treviso all go to Venice.
The mayor of Treviso is more willing, as it would give work to a lot of local people.

Re: Venice: new base !?
Cheers :-)
So there probable will not be a base in Treviso in this case. Anyway, Mayor is wrong this way. For example if I flew to GRO for 2 days, I prefer to stay at Girona instead of going to Barcelona (not enought of time to visit such a place). Also I've visited Milan which was nothing very special for me, so I've sent my roomate today to Bergamo as more relaxing and interesting place to short visit. I'd also do the same as I have few places around BGY to see. So I don't think everybody who would land at Treviso would go to Venice. If also they will promote it's region, make a good transport system from airport to other places it will give some more jobs for them.

Re: Venice: new base !?
Fact is, most of the pax landing at TSF immediately take the coach to Venice, very few take the bus to Treviso - usually about half a dozen or so, some of them locals returning from abroad ... It's what I have always seen every time I have been there.
Treviso is an interesting city, and there are places of interest all around, but they are much less known that the illustrious Venice, in fact almost unknown by most tourists.
I agree with you : Girona, Bergamo, Treviso, Pisa are interesting and not just airports to be left as speedily as possible.

If you walk through a city like Bergamo, you will notice hundreds of curious (and highly surprised) tourists. Restaurants and bars in the old town are doing good business. Needless to say that almost all of the visitors have a Ryanair boarding pass in their pocket.

To be honest, I was very suprised when realised the Pisa has "Florence" add in the name. It was because especially in Poland Pisa is very well recognized mostly because of it's tower. I didn't know that somebody need to have some other part to know what is in nearby

Well I went to Treviso for a day last summer! No Venice.
And anyway, who cares if all the passengers go to Venice. After all it is the venetian airport number 2! And the argument with the work for local people will change a lot of peoples minds.
