Willie Walsh, CEO of British Airways, predicts that the high cost of fuel means the end of low-cost flying.
"I think the era of very low fares is behind us", he said.
That is known as "wishful thinking" !
The cost of the "fuel surcharge" is raised very often by BA, which has never sold any low cost tickets, and could rightly be described as a HiCC (high cost carrier) or even an "exorbitant cost carrier" !
I am sure that Ryanair will in the future still offer low cost flights, anyway much much less expensive, much more punctual, and lose much less baggage - than British Airways.
British Airways is indeed one of the worst performers in terms of punctuality and baggage. They lost more than 1 million bags in 2007 (yes, 1.000.000 bags) and it probably won't be any better in 2008, with the Heathrow T5 fiasco.
