Ryanair 737 emergency landing (DUB-STN)
Thursday 11 September 2008 15:17
Dublin plane makes emergency landing
A Ryanair flight from Dublin to Stansted was forced to make an emergency landing minutes after taking off.
The carrier said the back of the plane struck the runway as it took off at 11.40am and the pilot returned to the airport as a precaution.
A spokesman for the airline described it as a "tail-strike" and said it was quite common.
"As a precautionary measure the aircraft returned with oxygen masks deployed and landed safely in Dublin," the spokesman said.
"All 148 passengers disembarked normally."
The Irish Aviation Authority has received an initial report on the incident from the airline and a spokeswoman said they would look into the matter further.
All 148 passengers were offered later flights out of Dublin.

Re: Ryanair 737 emergency landing (DUB-STN)
Now, I'm not sure how much everyone understands Air Traffic Control Language, but here is a link I found with regard to the incident at Dublin yesterday.
From the Forum I found it on, the poster says........
You can download a recording from liveATC.net in the archive section. It's the 10:30 to 11:00Z at EIDW which covers the whole thing from take off to landing. Unfortunately it covers several frequencies so some calls from FR208 are missed. Unfortunately clearance delivery clutters up too much airtime.
Found on
http://www.liveatc.net/archive.php
At 8mins.15secs. FR207/8 confused pilot making a request
At 9mins 23secs. FR207/8 pilot still confused on flight number, you can hear alarms sounding in background of cockpit.
At 15mins 27secs. FR208, with no alarms sounding is asked if happy to approach the airport.
At 16min 34secs. ATC informs "Rescue" vehicles whats happening
At 19mins 50secs. FR208 cleared to land.
At 24mins 07secs. FR208 has landed and cleared to a taxiway
Apart from the above, it's quite interesting to hear how ATC handle the situation.
That link (by the look of the web-site is valid for 7 days) If you would like to hear it at a later date then go to the link and when you get to the "listen" green button...... right-click and "Save Target as.." hopefully that will save it to listen later on.
