PSA: Pisa - S. Giusto "Galileo Galilei" (Italy)

Pisa is a city which is mainly known by its leaning tower - it lies in Toscana (Italy), some 80 km from Firenze.
PSA is an important Ryanair base, with more than 30 destinations - the apron is never for long without an FR 737, often 4 or 5 together !

The airport has also a military side, mainly transport (Hercules ia).
The long runway allows long range flights, even transatlantic.

Transportation :
- a bus (named : "LAM rossa") runs to the main railway station (5-10 minutes away) and on to the city center - bus stop is in front of "arrivals" - the ticket costs 1,10 euro (february '12) - vending machine at the airport bus stop (in front of the terminal, slightly to the right).
- there are also buses from the airport to Firenze, Lucca, Viareggio and Pietrasanta, Livorno and Siena. Tickets at the booths just at the "arrival" exit. Bus station at the right when exiting the terminal.
- there is a railway station at the airport, at the far left end of the terminal when you exit the baggage claim area. Trains to Pisa (Stazione Centrale) with connections to Firenze, Lucca, Viareggio, etc. Tickets at vending machines on the platform.
- the airport is no more than a 15-20 minute walk from the main railway station.

The terminal :
The terminal is not very large, but it is cheerful and pleasant.
Many small shops, landside and airside (a good sky shop with wines, liquors, sweets, and other food typically italian and toscan.

Airport terminal closed until 04h00 AM !!
Be aware that there are ANY pubs open in the neighbourhood ( and toilets!! ), so
don't be too early at the airport.

I was frozen tonight starting from 02h30 until 04h05 ..

But my first FR trip was great, full member fan from this moment...
