According to a report from Bloomberg, CEO Michael O’Leary on Tuesday said the 175-plane order for Next Generation 737s was “very much an interim order and a forerunner for what I very much hope will be an order for Max aircraft once our teams finish their study.”
The “Max” is the 737 Max, a new-engine variant of the 737 being built by Boeing.
O’Leary said Ryanair and Boeing have a joint team studying a possible order for 100 to 200 of aircraft and that he hopes such a deal will be announced by the end of the year.
