The Icelandic travel website Túristi.is reports that Ryanair is looking into flying to Iceland. The Irish low-cost airline is currently discussing the possibility with the Iceland Airport Authority .
Robin Kiely, a spokesperson for Ryanair, told Túristi.is that the discussion is currently on exploratory terms, as the basis for cooperation is to maintain the airline’s low-cost flight policy. We have discussed the possibility with the Iceland Airport Authority but only as such,” Kiely told Túristi.is.

Re: To Iceland ?
Iceland might be a very strategic destination for Ryanair. If FR could set up a base there, it might be used as a hub for flights to the United States East coast. (Although I don't know if flights of 4h45 minutes are possible with a B737-800).

Definitely possible. Ryanair is will start flying Stockholm Vasteras - Tenerife South which is scheduled at 5h50 min. Would be a great next step for Ryanair by setting up a base at Keflavik and start flying to New York.
