If FR wants the momentum going they need more immediate capacity, the new 738s will not arrive before September 2014.

Re: 737-400 in FR fleet
The choice of -400 series is a bit unexpected.
Those aircraft are rather old (last delivery in 2000, to CSA) and no longer in production.
They are 3m smaller than the -800 and usually carry only 171 seats (against 189 in the -800).

Re: 737-400 in FR fleet
If they or other planes (new are not available at the moment) FR will not grow during the summer season, compared to 2013, when they had +/-305 planes and now only 298 planes?

According to a correspondant on PPRuNe, it would be 737-800s on lease from Fly Dubai.
Fly Dubai has ordered 50 737-800 in 2008 and has already received more than 30. Some of them have 189 seats.

About -400 lease :

extracts :
A report from Airport Coordination Limited (ACL) has revealed that Ryanair is planning to lease four Boeing 737-400s to operate on routes from Dublin Airport this summer. Although Ryanair has not confirmed the report, the carrier has often spoken about potentially turning to lease deals to support its network growth, while waiting for the arrival of new 737-800 equipment from the US manufacturer.
According to ACL, Ryanair will be “leasing in four 737-400 series aircraft to facilitate various routes during the season.” These, according to the schedule report, will be configured with 168 or 170 seats, less than the 189-seat 737-800s that are used throughout its network. When questioned by The HUB on the report, Ryanair said: "Ryanair does not comment upon, or engage in, rumour or speculation."
