Boarding gate number Empty Boarding gate number

Post by kpnuts Tue 19 Oct 2010 - 18:41

Hi this is my first post

We are travelling as a family from Stansted to Gerona Spain in a couplw of weeks (evening flight), with Ryan Air, My question is do the boarding gate numbers stay the same or do they continuously change, I ask as my mother is elderly and a very slow walker who refuses any mechanical help ie buggy etc, I am worried about the time it will take to get to the gate from the on screen notification if we knew in advance we could already be there in good time

If they stay the same does any body know the gate number

Thanks KP

Rather than worrying about it, your best bet is to approach any Ryanair desk staff at the departure gates and tell them the situation. They will tell you which gate and probably let you on first so it does not become a 'Health & Safety' issue with everyone rushing to the gates and possibly knocking her over.

Whilst that might be the case in Cardiff Airport, alas Stansted is much more complex an airport!!!!

At Stansted the gate will be displayed in the main terminal 60 minutes prior to departure (NOT prior to being at the gate!).

For an able-bodied person, I'll leave that to your imagination...... the Ryanair gates from the main terminal at Stansted are roughly the following times............

Gates 30-ish are a transit train ride away, but allow yourself 10-15 minutes
Gates 80-90 are a walk away and could take about 10 minutes to reach,

The main Satellite for Ryanair at Stansted has Gates 40-59, all of which are walking to the gates. I would say gates 40-46 are about 15 mins walk and Gates 47-59 I would allow 20 minutes.

The gates "30-ish and 80-90" are on Satellite 2 at Stansted and maybe changed all the rest are on Sat 3. GENERALLY, they will not change "Satellite", as that involves too much complications.

It really does depend on what flights use the gate before your flight departs. If an earlier flight is delayed and at your gate, then obviously they will have to change the gate to ensure you board on-time.

At Stansted if you are in the Priority Boarding queue (and have paid for it) you will board first, otherwise you wil be in the normal queue.

I have travelled from Dublin more than once and the boarding gate has changed on more than one trip with only 10 minutes to the original gate opening, ears and eyes are needed all the time these days... girona i've not had that problem but it can happen anywhere i guess.

oh yes egss or stansted is a big airport ..every time i visit i knock a day off at the gym Very Happy
