Should Ryanair focus expansion at primary Airports?
Ryanair at Primary Airports.
Since the so-called "cuddly Ryanair" has been around. Ryanair has expanded rapidly at primary airports and have cut services at some of the minor airports of the city they claim they are flying to, such as Glasgow Prestwick instead of Glasgow International. I opened this poll because I wanted to see what everyone prefers. Less waiting times and lower fares, potentilly, or a closer trip to the city you are going to.
I would love to hear what you think.

Re: Ryanair at Primary Airports.
In a good way its good they move in to primary airports, because its closer to the city in many cases. I would love them to fly to Linate, its so much quicker to get into Milan than from Bergamo.
The other thing is the fares have gon up so much in both regional and primary airports so I don't really care anymore.
They should go back to the Cheap Ryanair they were 10 years ago.

Re: Ryanair at Primary Airports.
I agree. It's nice to be near a city but I would prefer to fly to regional airports as it is quicker to fly out from them. But if the main airport is not that big then it is better to go there.
You are right the fares have gone up quite a lot. I see they want to lower the fares this winter but it will not be like 10 years ago.

Re: Ryanair at Primary Airports.
lower the fares this winter.....
yea right.
If you have lots of days and if you are lucky you might get a 19.99,
but about the cheapest you are able to get.
otherwise they've gon up a lot.
In some cases they are more expensive than other airlines.
ex MAD-BRU on the 22 August, FR: 250.99; IB: 143.99....
Well you know what i mean...
For the airports, definitely NOT Heathrow, CDG, MXP, imagine how the fares will go up.

Re: Ryanair at Primary Airports.
Very true
I can never find a EUR9.99 trip to the Algarve anymore or even anywhere over an hour flight. Really hard to find a EUR19.99 too.
Real Shame.

Re: Ryanair at Primary Airports.
I was so disappointing trying to find flights to BARI. They are so expensive.
I went last year return for 80 Euros, this year cheapest is 140.
Do they really sell all of the tickets at those prices. Because they never went below 32.99 one way, besides there are only like 4 seats available at that price. Drives me mad....
Can't understand....

Re: Ryanair at Primary Airports.
I see they are claiming they are going to lower the fares this winter Apparently damaged easyjets share price a little. But I can not see it. If fares are lower on some routes I see only 1 EUR drop.
Let us hope the fare wars will be as big as O`Leary says. I want the old days back

Re: Ryanair at Primary Airports.
Yea! We are not the only ones wanting RYR to go back to the old days.
To the provocative cheap image... Its trying to change it, but I think its not working.
What do you all think?
Best!

Re: Ryanair at Primary Airports.
No I don`t think there is that much of a difference, except for the second carry on bag and allocated seating, but its not worth the price increase. I want to see MOL making funny and controversial remarks again. He only seems to be in the news now for making large profits.

Re: Ryanair at Primary Airports.
Mh..ofc its not worth the price increase.
I havn't noticed anything different since my last flight. (Ok. 2nd bag... Allocated seat, (bad for families cuz its hard to be together, otherwise they send you to the 30th row))
But its not worth the price increase...
Prices have really changed.
I had to fly alitalia to go to bari. There was minimal difference in price, and i had the extra bag....

Re: Ryanair at Primary Airports.
I could imagine the service was much better compared to Ryanair even after "Always Getting Better"
I have to start flying with Norwegian and Wizz Air, prices especially Wizz Air, much better than FR, better choice of routes and a better on board experience.

Re: Ryanair at Primary Airports.
Wizz is good. Except for their baggage policy. 9.99EUR for a standard cabin bag.
It would be nice to see them more. Same too with Norwegian. They are posibly the best low-cost airline around. FR still has an awful lot of work to do even to contend with Norwegians high standard of customer service.

Also Easyjet is pretty good. I was impressed.
What is wizz's baggage policy?
I've never heard about it?

Re: Ryanair at Primary Airports.
Here it is. I think they have the worst policy out of them all. Do not mind it though.
Small cabin. bag:
"If your cabin baggage is of size 42x32x25cm or smaller it can be taken onboard free of charge. It must fit under the seat in front of you.
OR
Large cabin bag:
If your cabin baggage is larger than the dimensions of a small cabin bag but not exceeding 56x45x25cm, you can take it onboard for a fee. It must fit in the overhead compartment. You must be able to place it in the overhead compartment unassisted." (WIZZ WEBSITE)
They introduced it in 2012 I think. Before, it was similar to the old policy of FR.

Re: Ryanair at Primary Airports.
Aa ok. I see.
Do you know what the fee is?
But stil 42x32x25 is just like any normal cabin bag.
I don't think they go measuring on all bags...
Best.

Re: Ryanair at Primary Airports.
The fee I think is EUR9.99 but EUR17.99 at the airport. It is a bit of an inconvenience to only have the small bag. They tend not to meseaure the bags as I did get away with taking a bigger bag. However I did see them stop a man with a similar bag to the one I ,and many others, had and measured it, then charged him but I think you can get away with it.

Yes, but it is still quite risky...
If you get caught...
Wizz is still cheaper than FR now...

Re: Ryanair at Primary Airports.
They fly more into secondary airports. Ant their network is mainly Eastern-European.
So if they manage to expand on Western-European routes and compete FR, EZY... it would be good to see if it works.
