Porto (OPO) new base

In january new announcement:
New base: Porto (OPO) 2 aircraft, 8 routes

Is Ryanair finally opening a base in Oporto? That's amazing news. I can't wait to see TAP, that controls the aviation business in Portugal, getting some real competition. Ryanair won't regret this decision as it will turn out to be a great business deal for them and for all of those that seek cheap flights coming out/going in to Portugal. OPO has an excellent airport, one of the best in Europe, over 10 million emigrants spread all over Europe looking for flights to visit their home country (that feed almost exclusively TAP's pockets!) and a rising search of tourists. I just which I could see those news officially confirmed by Ryanair headoffices.
Thank you to Ryanair if this gets to be confirmed.

Hey somawa, at the time it is not 100% sure anymore . They postponed their deciscion because of a disagreement between the airport and Ryanair. Well, we will see. I hope so!

:'( I'm really sad to hear the decision has been postponed again, I feared that could happen! I've sent, yesterday, several mails, to some portuguese authorities, to try to put some pressure but, obviously, one voice is of no importance. I'd like to ask everybody to give us a hand and do whatever is possible: write, email, fax, phone... Anything you can do to make this base finally open would be really appreciated. PLEASE...

Everybody should sign it; it's free of charge and all you need is your email address. The authorities in Lisbon shouldn't make the negotiation so hard just because TAP controls ANA and ANA controls the airports. Porto people should rise against this position and claim for themselves this base. If TAP fears the competition then it's because there's a good business opportunity for Ryanair. Don't give up because they'll give in!

I am truly interested in finding out what's happening with this OPO base; I frequently travel to Porto airport, have friends that keep talking about this and nobody has yet been able to understand why are the portuguese authorities creating so many problems. There should be more noise in Portugal, people should rise against this position and RYR should insist. Ladies & gents, boys & girls, send me news about this!

Hi guys,
I have recently read that the new base, in Porto, in closer than ever! Locals are starting to talk about it and making some pressure over the portuguese authorities. Like somawa said, the only thing stopping them from giving in is TAP, which is freaking out with the possibilty of a new RYR base in Portugal. No doubt, that with RYR in OPO, TAP with sink and would no longer have a place in the market. Love the idea of a "hub" in Porto and support all of those who are doing everything to get it.

No concrete news, but Michael O'Leary has been talking about 4 new bases to be announced within the next 12 months. 3 of them should be in western Europe. Porto is definitely a hot one, but let us wait and see...
