Re: Unconfirmed New Bases, Routes, etc. (Rumours only)
In a Belgian newspaper this morning : as a consequence of the German tax, Ryanair is rumored to begin flights from Liège this summer season.
The destinations would be Girona (Spain) and Bologna (Italy), each with two flights per week.
Liège (LGG) lies in the east of Belgium, not that far from the German border. It is an important freight airport (open 24/24) with, as regards passenger traffic, only a few charter flights; it occasionally is used by Ryanair as a diversion airport.

Re: Unconfirmed New Bases, Routes, etc. (Rumours only)
For Belgium, Liege is considering by ryanair like a bin!!!! as ryanair don't want to pay the eco tax in Germany, Ryanair has decided to go to Liege. But Belgium doesn't want that Liege airport become a bin of low fares airlines...So isn't sure for the moment ..but i think that it's a great idea. it will be positive for Belgium..but it's my own opinion

Ryanair dismisses the rumour that it were about to bid for Virgin Atlantic :

Ryanair, the world’s favourite airline, today (17th Dec) dismissed rumours that it might bid for Virgin Atlantic. While Ryanair is interested in a low fares transatlantic service it has no intention of bidding for a high fares airline.

Simon Binns from Manchester Confidential meets Michael O’Leary, Ryanair’s cheeky chief exec
Michael O’Leary certainly made an impression on his flying visit to Manchester this week. The cocksure Ryanair chief executive was full of praise for the new management team at Manchester Airport and couldn’t resist a jibe at some of his rivals.
The four new routes represent a canny deal for Manchester Airport and suggest that Ryanair – for all their bluster otherwise – do actually need a proper presence here. The new airport management team are making strides in the right direction with some good route wins in the last few months. Not to forget the A380.
So, Ryanair and the airport are friends again. It certainly won’t be dull.
Simon Binns sat down with Mr O’Leary for a cup of coffee and a pastry in Terminal 2 – here are the highlights.
For the rest of the article go to
http://www.manchesterconfidential.co.uk/News/General/Go-for-a-wee-before-you-get-on-the-plane_16770.asp
Business is Business- Fall outs and making up are part of the make up.
I hope and it is not just because EGCC (MAN) is my local hub O'Leary and Binns kiss and make up and Ryanair are assigned a few more gates at terminal 1... (may i suggest lower numbered gates like 5,7 and 9 because that Emirate gate can be pretty hectic especially when the A380 as docked)

Press conference at Charleroi tomorrow 17 february.
MOL himself will talk about new destinations and increased frequencies on existing routes.
Sounds a bit odd to me, as the (new!) Charleroi airport is already saturated, especially at peak times in the early morning.

As far as I know, the local authorities finally did not agree to pay Ryanair for a Santiago-Charleroi route. So no route, at least for the next months or years.
