Closure of Belfast base

They will remove their aircraft based there but also stop all their flights to BHD from other bases.

Its sad that the base is closing, by reading on the article on the FR website, they are leaving on good terms, and if/when the runway extension happens, they could be back operating a base out of BHD.

I agree - and the video of MO'L speaking at today's press conference in BHD seems to reflect that positive note...

After all, it's not often FR have a press conference to announce they're quitting routes. They normally blame someone else in a discrete press release and that it's. My thoughts are with the BHD-based cabin crew: they are the hardest working FR employees I know: BHD-PIK is the shortest FR sector in Europe and BHD-LPL isn't far behind!

And here's new bad news. After Ryanair has proven to operate their routes successfully FlyBe is going to open Belfast City-Liverpool, Belfast City-East Midlands and Belfast City-Bristol! :-(

What a shame. They know they can make a hell of a lot of money on these routes now that Ryanair is leaving Belfast.
