Translation from a Dutch article:

BRUSSELS - Ryanair will start flying from Brussels Airport ( Zaventem ). But flights to Schiphol "within five years" are a possibility as well. This was said by chief executive Michael O'Leary of Ryanair Wednesday during a press conference in Brussels, according to local media . A spokeswoman for Schiphol said there are no talks ongoing with Ryanair.

Ryanair had recently applied for slots at the Foundation Airport Coordination Netherlands for flight to/from Amsterdam to fly there next summer but withdrew that application again recently , according to the foundation. Ryanair flies in the Netherlands at Eindhoven , Maastricht and Groningen .

Ryanair wants to be active from February 28, 2014 at Zaventem , with ten routes to Spain , Italy and Portugal . At a later stage flights to London and Dublin may follow. O'Leary hopes for 1.5 million passengers in the first year .

The flights to and from Brussels will be more expensive than those from Charleroi. Ryanair aimes primarily at business traffic from the Belgian capital. The offer to and from Charleroi remains unchanged , according to the CEO .
