FCO : Rome Fiumicino "Leonardo da Vinci" (Italy)
There are two civil airports at Rome : the main one is Fiumicino (FCO), the other is Ciampino (CIA). Ryanair now fly to both airports.
Airport website :
https://www.adr.it/web/aeroporti-di-roma-en-/pax-fco-fiumicino
Runways :
07/25 - 3300 m
16R/34L - 3900 m
16L/34R - 3900 m
16C/34C - 3600 m
Terminal
The Ryanair flights use the terminal 3 (T3).
Passengers usually are carried by bus between the aircraft and the terminal building.
Arrival at the ground level. Departure at the upper level.
A modern airport, clean and clear.
Transportation
Buses and trains carry you to Rome downtown.
Buses :
Different companies (amongst them Terravision) run a service between the airport and the main railway station, Roma Termini, in around one hour, depending on the road traffic.
Tickets can be bought in the terminal, online (often cheaper) or on the bus.
See : https://www.adr.it/web/aeroporti-di-roma-en-/pax-fco-bus
The bus station is to the right when exiting T3.
Trains:
Trenitalia has a station not far from the T3.
The "Leonardo Special" go straight to Roma Termini (binario 24), every half hour, in 30 minutes - one way ticket is 15 euros (April 2014).
The Regional train stops at every station, as regards the South of the city : Trastevere (where the tram 8 carry you to Piazza di Venezia via Ponte Garibaldi), Ostiense (not far from metro station Piramide), Tuscolana (metro Punte Lungo), Tiburtina (buses to destinations in the provinces) - that train does NOT go to Termini - one way ticket is 8 euros (April 2014). Every 15 minutes (30 min on week-end), around 40 min. to Trastevere.
Tickets can be bought at vending machines in the station.
