Standing seats !

Spring Airlines, a Chinese low-cost, examines the possibility of putting "standing seats" on its A320, allowing 40 % more passengers on board. These seats would look like a bar stool !
Michaël O'Leary had not yet thought of that !

Not easy to provide. Reason? Balance of a plane in departure/arrival, or just a simple turbulences...

When I said that MOL had not thought of that, it's with tongue in cheek ...

The reference is not a newspaper, but "flightglobal", related to Flight International, a well known and serious English magazine.

wow 40% more passengers and with this i would expect the same growth for luggage placed in cargo hold and cabin , this would change the whole dynamics of the A320 surely, unsure if this would be possible.. and as for safety would the bar like stool sitting position be anywhere near safety standards set?
personally i cannot see the stool like seats taking off but may improve comfort in many fast food joints

... and obviously FR will be ordering their planes with seats from Boeing and their planes with 'standing room only' from Airbus

Hm... I've heard it should looks like a tall bar table but this way it's something like a portal to switch the pax in and out I don't like it this way as there will be no possibility to seat like it would be in bar table case...

I seem to spend most my time on my feet as it is OTHER Q joining other pax in line 20 minutes before boarding ... not sure my feet can hack standing while on board aswell ... wonder if wing walking will be even cheaper

The diagrams shown above are surely in use for transporting man eating mass murderers on deathrow , silence of the lambs either that or some sort of punishment aid. ... i cannot see this taking off.

Maybe useful for a tall person or a person with a medical problem whom find it hard to sit.

I think so...these standing seats seem better than how is figured into the designs.

I don't like the idea of standing seats for safety reasons. However, if they are proven to be safe and that the extra passengers will not destabilise the aircraft, then maybe they could be implemented on domestic short range flights.

To add to this, these standing seats looks pretty small and thin...WONT SOMEBODY PLEASE THINK OF THE FAT PASSENGERS!? ;-) HA HA HA!!!

*Ps I realise that I have slagged off fat passengers now on two posts, however I am not 'fatist' as my google chrome spell check is telling me that I have made a spelling error when typing the word fatist- therefore fatism does not exist- and therefore I am not fatist. Just thought I would clear that up Ha Ha*
